Exploitation Awareness Week 2020
What is it?
As part of their national work with over 14,500 professionals who work on the issue of Child Exploitation and its consequences across the UK, NWG Group champion the National Exploitation Awareness day on the 18th March. This day highlights the issues surrounding exploitation and encourages everyone to think, spot and speak out against abuse with a zero tolerance approach to adults developing inappropriate relationships with children and young people.
What are Safe and Sound doing?
We’ve extended our focus to the whole week (16th – 20th March) to broaden the impact of our messaging and resources. From Monday 16th, Schools across the City and County will be delivering tailor made ‘bitesize’ awareness sessions we created on a range of common topics, including consent, grooming, healthy relationships and online behaviour.
Wear Purple. Stop Exploitation.
We’re also asking schools, businesses and individuals to wear something purple on Wednesday 18th and make a donation to Safe and Sound as part of the awareness raising fancy dress initiative, to allow us to keep local children safe not just during Exploitation Awareness Week but all year round. Keep an eye on our social media channels for more information.
