Win prizes & raise funds by becoming a Festive Fool
From 11-15 December we are calling on our supporters to dress in festive costume to help raise money to support young people affected by sexual exploitation and abuse across Derby and Derbyshire.
What is Safe & Sound’s Festive Fool Christmas Challenge?
Last year, Safe and Sound’s Marketing & Development Manager Rhiannon Hulse dressed up in different festive costumes all day every day in December until Christmas Eve and raised more than £2000 for Safe and Sound. This amount helped one young person receive the full support they needed to move to safety following abuse.
Have a look at Rhiannon’s JustGiving page last year for ideas and inspiration.
Safe and Sound is now challenging YOU to join our Festive Fool week by dressing up in festive fancy dress and getting sponsored by friends, family and colleagues for doing so.
Take part as an individual, or get your whole team or entire workforce to join in too!
Our goal this year is to raise £2,500 through Safe and Sound’s Festive Fool Challenge.
How do I become a Festive Fool?
Dressing in ‘festive costume’ could be a classic elf or Santa outfit, a character from a festive film or song or something completely unique, it’s all up to you and your interpretation of foolish.
Even better if you’re able to spend the whole day or week (work, meetings, school run, Christmas shopping) in full costume too.
Ways to raise funds
- Set up a JustGiving page, share your pictures on your social media channels and ask for sponsorship from friends and family (get in touch for help and support with this)
- Don’t want to fundraise but would like to get involved anyway? Post pictures of yourself on social media dressed as a Festive Fool, tag #FestiveFool in your pics and donate an amount of your choice by texting “SASG48 £5″(or other amount) to 70070
- Sponsor our team of Festive Fools instead – we will be doing the challenge on Friday 8 December
When does the Festive Fool challenge start?
From 11-15 December – Challenge yourself or your team to do it for one whole day or if you’re a big festive fool, the whole week.
While we have designated 11-15 December as Festive Fool Week you can choose any day or week in December for your festive foolishness.
What do I get for being a Festive Fool?
To support one young person to Move to Safety costs us £1,800. By raising money as a Festive Fool, you will be helping local young people in Derby and Derbyshire to get expert support and move to safety following sexual exploitation and abuse.
In addition, we have THREE awards for the greatest Festive Fools.
By taking part, you could win one of three fantastic prizes that have been generously donated.
Fab Festive Fool Fundraiser/s – Afternoon tea for 2 at Harrods.
This award is for the individual or team that raises the most from being festively foolish.
Funniest Festive Fool/s Photo – Box of Thorntons chocolates
This award will go to the photo of the Fool/s in the funniest location or somewhere we wouldn’t expect to find a Festive Fool.
Funkiest Festive Fool Finery – Magnum of Prosecco
This award is for the most industrious or inventive Festive Fool costume/s.
Don’t want to be a Festive Fool but want to support us?
The Safe and Sound team will be doing the challenge on Friday 8 December ALL day, including external meetings so follow us on social media to keep track of the Festive Fools. If you can’t take part yourself, please consider sponsoring our team.
