New Chair of our Trustee Board
New Chair Catherine Arkley has been appointed to our Board of Trustees.
New Chair Catherine Arkley takes up the role this month, and will provide strategic leadership to our Board, ensuring effective governance of the charity and the achievement of our objectives.
She currently runs her own management consultancy for charities, called Synergies, and has recently completed a Master’s Degree in Work and Organisational Psychology.
Catherine started her career in hotel management before taking a career break to raise her family.
After returning to work as Chief Executive of the national charity Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, she developed a new vision and public profile.
She also led the charity to international renown with its innovative ‘Yellow Alert’ programme; the early detection of liver disease in infants.
Catherine says she is looking forward to working with our team at Safe and Sound in her new position.
She said: “Child sexual exploitation is such an important issue and I have great empathy for the victims. In terms of my experience and skills I hope that there’s a lot I can bring to the charity and that I can provide the team with the support that they need.”
Catherine has worked collectively with other charities, large and small, and represented the sector at the Department of Health and other public bodies.
She has particular experience in the development and delivery of patient and young persons’ emotional support and information services.
Our Chief Executive Nathalie Walters, said: “We are thrilled that Catherine will be leading our Board of Trustees. She has a wealth of experience in working with charities, large and small, and directly with young people.
“We are sure that she will provide us with excellent support as we continue our vital work to tackle child sexual exploitation.”
